New lightweight and low(ish) cost differential GPS units are being investigated to measure ice flow. They must find a solution fairly quickly after being powered-up (base and rover), which is expected to be roughly +-2cm accuracy. These are the units under test:

• Ublox M9P
  • L1/L2 multi-constellation chip
  • low power and cm accuracy
  • used in our current developments
• Swift Navigation Piksi Multi
  • which is an L1/L2 receiver
  • quite high power usage but successfuly deployed in Iceland
• Ublox M8P – tested when it was released
  
  • but only uses L1
