New lightweight and low(ish) cost differential GPS units are being investigated to measure ice flow. They must find a solution fairly quickly after being powered-up (base and rover), which is expected to be roughly +-2cm accuracy. These are the units under test:
- Ublox M9P
- L1/L2 multi-constellation chip
- low power and cm accuracy
- used in our current developments
- Swift Navigation Piksi Multi
- which is an L1/L2 receiver
- quite high power usage but successfuly deployed in Iceland
- Ublox M8P – tested when it was released
- but only uses L1
