We tested low power Radio links on the glacier between the surface nodes using the TI CC1120 transceiver at 868MHz. This allows a good range and was a platform we could use in the future for IoT developments. ARM Cortex-M3 boards with a plug-in TI CC1120 board were used with a custom network based on the Probe’s system.

This inspired our later research in the mountainsensing project – which used IPv6 on this radio.
